Technical term – anomaly
Anomaly literally means an irregularity or deviation. When a passive detector registers deviations in the earth’s magnetic field, this can be an indication of the presence of a metal object in the soil. Some anomalies will be considered as a suspect object, others won’t. This depends on the characteristics and measured values of the deviation.
